Micro Wedding Venues
In New York City, spacious event venues and rooftops with massive capacities abound, as do picturesque parks and streets. Whatever unique plans you may have for your wedding event, we can fit all your guests and more. But, what if you wanted to do a small wedding elopement, with only a handful of guests present, and wanted as much privacy as possible? The ideal choice would be to find a location that offered complete privacy with no interference. So, if you really want to create the perfect atmosphere for your event, where you can have a meaningful and intimate moment with your partner, we offer services for the best micro weddings around. And, guess what? Most of the events we plan can even be created at places near you. As long as weddings can happen anywhere in the city and don’t need to be limited to major reception halls or event spaces, we can construct minimony ceremonies for you at virtually any local place.
PARKS AND SQUARES
Parks and squares are some of the most popular venues to use for small wedding ceremonies. Also, the commute matters, so when we put a list together of suggested micro wedding venues for you, we can take into consideration how you and your guests might arrive. The small wedding also has its own benefits as it can be performed at pretty much any public place you like. Below we give suggestions for some of our favorite NYC parks and squares that we like to recommend for events:
CENTRAL PARK
Central Park is the most well-known park in New York City and spans from Central Park South at 59th Street to Central Park North at 110th Street. You can consider this park for pretty much any type of wedding you may have in mind. Would it be a big wedding on a lawn with eighty or more people or a small wedding with perhaps only ten guests? For any type of engagement you might be thinking about, Central Park can be an ideal option to consider; and, in regards to micro wedding venues, the park offers many small spaces, like gazebos and landings, that would be perfect for those.
Many of these small places are located between the West 72nd Street park entrance and the West 81st Street one and include such locations as Central Park’s Wagner Cove, which we think makes an ideal venue for a micro wedding. This location is isolated from many of the more popular spaces in the park and is a very desirable spot to use for elopements. It’s located near a river, includes a pavilion, and will give you the privacy you want. Next, we would like you to consider the Shakespeare Garden, which is located on a hill in the heart of the park. This place is guaranteed to provide a special romantic feel, especially during the spring season when all the flowers and trees there are in bloom.
Another place we love for small weddings is this special area located by Gapstow Bridge. Here one can find the seclusion one needs for an intimate gathering; and, the scenery at this location, with The Plaza Hotel in the background and the pond nearby, makes a great set up for any photo and video shoots you plan. Additionally, a similar type of place that we also love is the landing behind Bow Bridge, a landmark that many people know as it has been featured in so many classic New York films. This charming spot offers a bridge view and is located close to the The Ramble and The Lake—it’s a secluded, picturesque area and is definitely a great place for having a micro wedding at.
Additionally, we can recommend a special place located right down the road from Bow Bridge that offers views of historic Upper West Side buildings, such as the San Remo, in the background. Located by The Lake, the couple will be truly amazed by the views here and how the whole neighborhood gets reflected in the water, and how the sun at certain times of day can pave the surrounding trails with light. This spot also doesn’t have any back or side entrances, so you won’t have people passing you by or staring at you while the ceremony is going on. Furthermore, this location includes a bench in case you have guests or witnesses with you who might want seating.
Next we have an amazing landing zone, right across the river from the Ladies Pavilion. This spot is a secluded one that will allow you to enjoy the event you planned with your partner in a beautiful romantic space. This spot also provides visitors with access to great views as it is located on the top of a promontory. It’s a great place if you have a small wedding in mind; but, if you think you might need a more spacious location, then you might want to consider Cop Cot, which is located deep in the south end of the park. However, for this location, you would need to procure a permit; but, the upside of this means that you won’t see any weddings or other events happening in this location at the same time you schedule your event. Additionally, this location is covered by a wooden shelter, which offers some protection in case of rain or other bad weather on the day of your event.
There are also plenty more idyllic spots in the park. These locations are present all over the park but not all of them would fit your micro wedding needs. We, at Perfect Wedding NYC, however, will be able to guide you through all suitable venue options to choose from when you book a package with us.
BROOKLYN BRIDGE PARK
Brooklyn Bridge Park is a wonderful location by the Hudson River that offers visitors awesome views of the Manhattan skyline. This location includes many possible spots for weddings such as: the beachfront, the landing zone, or the park itself. One downside of this location, however, is that it’s not so private as it's very popular for New Yorkers to go to for outings, so you can expect to see many people walking around here. But it’s still possible to find a space here that would feel intimate enough to do a small wedding at. Additionally, this location is one of the best spots in the city for photo shoots and a lot of famous Instagram shots are done here given the way that the water and the skyline here can be used as backdrops for scenes.
WASHINGTON SQUARE PARK
Washington Square Park, located in the center of Greenwich Village, is one of the most beautiful spots in the downtown part of our city—and it's full of historic charm. The park also offers a cozy alternative to some of the other more modern downtown recommendations we have. While the park doesn’t have as many hidden spots for wedding spaces as some of the other locations we recommend, there is one spot right by a fountain on a lawn that we actually love for doing micro weddings at. Even though the park is crowded at most times of day, that lawn makes a good fit for private gatherings. Additionally, if you are looking to book our Essential Duo Package, that comes with a special love-story photo shoot, then this location makes a great choice - as you can do a wedding here with the Washington Square Arch in the background and then do a series of cool street shots in the neighborhood.
FORT TRYON PARK
Fort Tryon Park is located in Upper Manhattan on the far West Side. If you want your wedding to appear as if it took place in some fantasy movie, then this spot could be right for you. This gorgeous park includes a castle that feels just like an old European one, and the park is filled with lots of stone pathways and majestic trees on a hill which add to the charm. This park also offers scenic views of the New Jersey coastline, replete with picturesque waterfalls, staggering cliffs, and amazing flora. The commute might be slightly difficult for you if you are coming from points East in New York, like Brooklyn, but this park is still easily accessible from major thruways, like the Westside Highway or the I-95, so can still be an easy destination to get to for many—and, can be a great location to use, too, for those who already live anywhere on the West Side.
BATTERY PARK
All the way down on Wall Street, we have a beautiful place located by the river: it’s called Battery Park. The park here even has a small castle in it that would make a great space for a private gathering. The castle is located all the way to the south from the entrance, and it’s called Castle Clinton National Monument. There is no admission fee, and it’s open all year round except on national holidays. The small squares in the park can also bring intimacy to a ceremony, and one of our favorites of these is right behind the Museum of Jewish Heritage.
ROOFTOPS AND INDOOR VENUES
The benefit of rooftops is that they offer privacy and, of course, great opportunities for viewing the gorgeous Manhattan skyline. When you book a private rooftop space or use one at a residence where you or a friend might live, you can have as much privacy as you want - and, will, therefore, not have to worry about any strange interferences on the day of your event. It will just be you, your wedding team, the event location’s staff (if applicable), and your guests present. While most rooftops that are available to rent out are typically designed for those customers who may want to do large sized events, we actually know of many in the city that can be rented out for reasonable prices for those who want to do smaller ones. When you book with us, we can also make lots of great suggestions for other rooftops around the city that we could go to for your event if your plan is to just have a minimony, in which case, you would not even have to pay a booking fee for the space.
THE COMFORT OF YOUR OWN HOME
What about doing your minimony at home?
Last but not least to consider, the perfect small wedding venue isn’t necessarily one that takes place at a public location. Another option to consider is this: why wouldn't you set up your minimony at home? The benefits of that decision are massive. First of all, you can have the same services that you might get at a professional event space at your own residence without going anywhere. All your friends and family can come to you in person or even virtually. You can simply turn your own home into a beautiful venue space and enjoy the event just as you would if you had booked your ceremony at a formal reception hall—and, if you have access to a backyard or rooftop, even better.
And, we, at Perfect Wedding NYC, can bring all our professional services to you - which can include a person to officiate for your event and one of our awesome staff photographers.
Additionally, in regards to online weddings, since the Project Cupid has been released in New York City, we’re glad to inform you that we can now provide online ceremonies and have already done many of them via Zoom already. The online ceremony will ensure absolute intimacy and privacy - all you need is a link to the meeting that we can provide to you and your select guests.
DREAMS DO COME TRUE
You should know, too, that a good ceremony doesn’t need to be big or expensive to be special. It all depends on your choice of how you want to construct your event and, as elopement services are becoming increasingly popular, more people are choosing to have small venue events instead of big ones. Don’t worry, you can have a bigger reception and all that if you want at a later date, even in a year. But what’s essential for a good wedding is: the unity of two hearts, two lives and two souls.
And, we, at Perfect Wedding NYC, will provide the best service we know how to make your day special and to make your dreams come true!
Because we know how important your event is for you, when planning even a small wedding or a minimony with us, we will do our best to meet all your needs - so you will have great memories to carry with you after.
